Flo Healthcare Acquires Leading
Wireless Mobile Computing Technology
Business from EMS Technologies,
Inc.
Norcross, GA – November
28, 2003 (revised) – Flo
Healthcare, LLC. announced today
the acquisition of the Healthcare
Division of EMS Wireless, a division
of EMS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ – EMLG),
a leading provider of mobile devices
and WiFi wireless-related products
located in Norcross, Ga.
The acquisition, led by the management
of the EMS Healthcare Division,
follows recent developments in
the medical-device market that
have included rapid growth in the
adoption of the EMS’s award-winning
and patented Flo™ mobile
workstation. The acquired business,
now called Flo Healthcare, will
continue to operate in the same
Norcross, Ga., facility. Financial
details of the transaction were
not released.
The management-led acquisition
resulted in the transfer all of
the Healthcare Division employees,
including Keith W. Washington,
vice president and general manager,
and Daniel S. Fitzpatrick, vice
president, Sales and Marketing,
to Flo Healthcare as well as the
transfer of all of the EMS Healthcare
Division assets, including six
industry-leading patents for mobile
computing devices and wireless
products. Flo Healthcare is also
announcing that Tom L. Denmark,
an executive with more than 25
years experience in operations,
logistics, sales and risk management
in the retail, services and healthcare-product
manufacturing industries, has been
appointed President and CEO. Mark
S. Sellers, an executive with 36
years experience in investor led
buyouts, finance, operation and
CEO of several companies, is chairman
and managing member of Flo Healthcare.
Denmark stated, “With Keith
and Dan leading the existing Flo
Healthcare team, we will build
on our significant experience offering
innovative wireless solutions to
improve patient safety and clinical
efficiency to the healthcare industry,
backed by the highest level of
quality, service and support.” He
added, “Flo Healthcare is
funding a number of key initiatives
designed to further enhance the
products, people, and solutions
currently being offered to our
customers.”
Washington added, “Flo
Healthcare sales will continue
to grow at double-digit rates as
it has done over the past five
years, through serving key customers
and our business partners, including
the top technology solutions providers
in the industry such as McKesson,
Cerner, Siemens and other important
providers.”
